In a thread on pedal steel I posted these scales, and I received an email request to put them in Tablature to assist with future searches for this type of thing, so here they are.

These are extremely useful and are the building blocks of many classic steel parts

Thank you Scott...

If you are just beginning pedal steel, IMO, this should be one of the first things you sink your teeth into. Even if you've played for a while, going back over these as an exercise before you begin a practice session, could never hurt. Lots of music and money to be made in these scales...

A^ means 5th string raised a whole tone and then lowered a half tone.

It becomes especially useful when we add the 8th string into the mix.
Also try substituting the E raise instead of lower at the 14th fret.

Scott, that is so cool. A couple of combos I haven't been using are there to remind me!
Dick, that example is in the key of C, right? That F natural might mess with some ears if someone went straight into that from the G major examples without noticing. What a great use of the vertical. I wish mine on my professional would split with my A pedal better.

Thanks, these things are way more useful than just tabs of tunes. Now we can go make up our OWN too! :idea:

Thanks Scott for posting the scale tabs , I printed them and will put them to good use . Its one thing learning how to play a song but knowing where it came from and how its put together is another, thanks again

When two notes are not enough to get a fat sound. Think octaves... And alternate grips...

Try this with all of the 2 Note Harmonized Scales above.

Another one I practice, though it's technically already there as part of another scale, is the one starting with AB down on strings 5 and 6 and/or strings 3 and 5. Harmonizing 1st and 3rds - no 5ths.
