So I was watching an old Gene Autry movie the other night, and I said to myself, that's a really pretty song....

Thank for the kind words Ray.
I sometimes enjoy the recording of backing tracks as much as playing the lap steel over them.
I always start with some piano/kbd part to learn the chords and structure the arrangement set to a "drum" click track. Then I add: Guitar, uke, bass etc.
By the time I am ready to play the steel, I feel that I know the song pretty well...
BTW I have over 350 background tracks recorded. I would gladly share with anyone interested. I can send MP3's by email.
Sincerely;
Dom Franco

Don, that's beautiful. The whole combination, the track, the playing and the vocal. It's a nice remdition.

I have about a 60 year old piece of tab for Mexicali Rose from the Halifax Hawaiian Studios where I took lessons.
Would you be able to Email a track of your version to me as an Mp-03
