Just getting to know my new Milkman Sideman amp. It is my second Milkman and they are the best new amps I've heard for steel guitar.

I sold my last Milkman to a lucky forum member mostly because, and this will shock you solid state guys, I was looking for less power, and a bit more crunch/compression than I was getting with the 85 watt "steel amp" (which is also an spectacular product)

Tim is making an incredible amp... and I got to customize it to whatever I wanted.... I wanted blackface style, Cathode Bias, 6550 tubes.. but he'll basically build you any combination you want of style etc... very easy guy to work with.

Havent got it with a full band yet but can't wait....

Also forgot to mention that his standard speaker now is teh Telonics.... I had heard good things and they are all true so far.... awesome sounding speaker...

It is 50 watts but rates out RMS around 38 or so... PURRRRFECT for me....

Tim also built it so if I wanted to do a tube rectifier in the future I could try that...

Cool amp!

Is it possible that the Telonics speaker is just a relabeled Eminence eps15? They look identicle to me.

It's a wolf in sheep's clothing - looks like an Emminence, built like an Emminence, but sounds like a JBL!

Here are some more shots of Josh's Sideman:

Hi Josh,
This is the "Telonics guy".

No, our speakers are definitely NOT re-labeled. They represent many months of hard lab work by some great audio engineers. They are custom built by Eminence because in our opinion, they have the best NEO fab capability and our engineers work really well with each other.
They were designed for our own use, but we are glad to share with other people who want to make quality products and great music.
All the best!
Dave

Hey Josh - I've had my Sideman for a couple months now - Used it at 6 shows - 2 at fairly high volume . . Sounds better all the time. .
I've tried 4 different speakers in it - But Dave's is the one . .
With my other amps (using my Mullen G2) I was constantly tweaking the mids , and the highs had the ice pick syndrome . . Not so with the Sideman and Telonics . The way the highs sing , especially above the 12th fret , is second to none . .
Looking at your amp I see my settings are pretty much the same as yours - with the exception of your guitar side shows a little more treble . .
Wish Tim and Dave lived closer - I'd buy em' a drink . Oh yeah - and some catnip for Tim's cat - -
Thanks guys !

Tim customized mine for me also...I liked the standard Milkman colors, but he added a switch to my Sideman for either fixed bias or cathode bias.....fixed gives me more clean headroom and tighter low end, perfect for the "classic country" band, and cathode bias gives me a little looser, more personal sound, perfect for the alt-country other band....and one channel for steel, the other all set for dobro/guitar....I'm ready for anything with my Sideman!

I actually also still have a Milkman Pedal Steel amp....nothing like the big gun when you need infinite clean power with gobs of crisp low end....and I have a Milkman Guitar Amp, the perfect steel practice amp that sounds like the gig amp at lower volume, and good for those really intimate gigs....or for rocking out on guitar...

I really thought I'd sell at least one, and maybe two, of these amps (that is how I justified buying them all), but I simply can't decide which....they are all so sweet in their own way...I instantly bonded with each of them as they arrived....
