I'm Disappointed In The Membership

Post by Richard Damron »

Re: - Kurt Kowalski's post and plight.

We have almost 13,000 members and yet we can only muster some 1500 votes for Kurt? For shame, members! Many of us have voted more than once simply because we care about a fellow human being and wish a better life for him.

It will only cost you one minute of your life and nothing out of your pocket yet we can sit down at an instrument for many minutes and hours each and every day after having, perhaps, spent thousands on the purchase of a guitar. There's something a tad wrong with the perspective, here. Our priorities seem to be a bit askew.

Vote, dammit! One minute will not hinder your progression as a musician - but may enhance your standing as a human being.

I don't apologize for the rant.

Richard

Don't be disappointed, Richard. I've voted everyday, since Kurt's post became known. People can be skeptical about various websites, no obligation voting, surveys and the like. Early on one member here pointed out there was a girl with well over 2,000 votes. I'd love to see Kurt win that van, but whoever ends up winning, it'll be a godsend for them. I'm pretty sure Kurt would agree. That being said, I'm voting for Kurt at every opportunity.

I've been voting everyday since the thread started, but sadly have to agree this "community" seems a tad lacking in empathy as a whole :\

Rich:

I feel like the child who has been spanked and didn't know what it was for............I missed his post! You make the assuption that we all know about it and choose to do nothing.....not true in my case and I bet not true for a lot of other forumites. It would have been better to start a thread trying to draw our attention to his post rather than to rant about how disappointed you are in all of us.

I voted today and will each day until the deadline.

i agree with richard. i voted the first time thinking i was doing my part. but now i've found it quite simple to do it daily and get the double vote. that's all i can do and i would ask everyone else capable to consider the same action.
we should be able to really kick up that number!

Ben -

Point well taken but the object was to smack a few 'tween the eyes with a 2 X 4 and get their attention.

Also, you can vote from separate computers daily if you have more than one in the household. One vote daily per IP address.

the fact of the matter is, 13,000 members , but typically ALL forums and websites have multiple memberships but only a small percentage participate on a routine basis..some people log on once a month or once every few months...some only read one or two sections...I personally do not scan each section...I have one or two that I go to fairly often then the rest..NOT all that often...

The typical daily participation is generally very low..5 to 10%...

go easy...

I agree with Richard also. While it is true what Tony said, about everyone not viewing The Forum every day, over the course of two weeks now, enough of us have probably read it to have increased the chances significantly of Kurt getting that new van, IF we vote often. I do know sometimes we get so involved in our own lives, we forget things that should not be forgotten. Thanks Richard. stevet

Agree. OP also could have included the link to vote and/or the original post about this. :? :?

Thanks to Clete for remedying that.

Thanks guys. And Tony for your insight. Kurt may not win the vehicle but we should be giving it one helluva try!
