Tim , since I don't play anything but steel the Sideman 50 probably would not be my first choice. . the extra headroom of the 80 watt version would probably be my choice ..Is ther a difference in tone other than the extra 30 wats of power?

they sound pretty similar - but the 85W version has more of everything. Its a much louder amp, which means that at low volumes you can really sculpt just about any type of tone you want out of it.

The Sideman is cool because you can get two very different sounds from the same amp. Channel A sounds more Tweed Fender like - less low end, and more midrange. The Steel channel has more of the blackface Fender sound, except modified for steel purposes.

I have about a 6 week turnaround right now - however, I will be on a tour for 3 weeks in April so I am thinking that May is a good ballpark for new orders.

Looking forward to your call!

But make sure you hand your wallet to someone for safekeeping before you click over to that site....or you will feel an irresistible urge to send its contents to Tim....I know I did...

Folks - check out the Milkman facebook group for some nice pix of Bob Hoffnar on stage with Iggy Pop and a great clip of Greg Leisz playing with Clapton - all on Milkman amps, of course. Greg is really present and has a nice solo in the Houston clip...

I can also do credit card transactions - but here is the paypal rundown:

"The promotional financing offers currently available to qualified sellers through PayPal Smart Connect include:

No interest if paid in 3 months and no payments for 3 months for total purchases over $199.00 USD
No interest if paid in 6 months for total purchases over $199.00 USD (monthly payments required)
No interest if paid in 12 months for total purchases over $199.00 USD (monthly payments required)
12 fixed monthly payments at 12.9% APR for total purchases over $999.00 USD (available in select categories)
24 fixed monthly payments at 12.9% APR for total purchases over $1,999.00 USD (available in select categories)
By offering promotional financing on your eBay listings, higher-priced items become more affordable, increasing the number of potential buyers. "

for those not on Facebook - this is the post for today. Its Greg Leisz caught on tape with Clapton playing Tears in Heaven with his Milkman.

Brother Tim. Guess I'm slow, but I'm not seeing any way to order through Paypal (or by any means) on either of your websites.

Help a brother out.

I agree - there is something very nice and old fashioned about working with a musician one on one like I get to do.

A hand built amplifier is every bit as important as a hand made instrument - and we all know how good those are around here!

Thanks to everyone for the latest round of orders. I am getting pretty busy

Interesting post by a guy who actually has had both Little Walter and Milkman amps...Andrew, int the "Fender Amps" thread:
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=243337
"Milkman 50W sideman is clean as a whistle, and it seems much louder than my LW VG-50 was"
...and note that this is comparing the LW to Tim's smaller Milkman Amp, the Sideman - the Pedal Steel amp is MUCH louder than that...

Tim, how much does your 85w pedal steel amp weigh? I'm thinking about selling my 1978 Webb, it sounds great but i'm looking for something that sounds as good if not better but also want something lighter.
Thanks, Ed

Yes! Dave sent me a demo and I really liked it. I will be using them by default unless people have a preference. The Telonics speaker has a nice sparkle to it that I like. That said, these amps are custom built so whichever speaker you like I can install for you.

Ed - the Milkman 85W weighs about 55 pounds as a 15" Combo with a neo magnet speaker.

Tim I listened to quite a few of the 2013 tour video's of Clapton's and the Milkman steel sounded great. I was trying get closer shots of Clapton's Dumble Bluesmaster combo he recently purchased and using on tour :)

Greg told me that Eric was not liking the Fender amps that they sent him (with his name on them, of course)

Clapton does not use pedals - he has his strat with some sort of boost switch on it. He plays clean, and then digs in with the boost.

Greg let him try his Dumble-modded Fender Deluxe Reverb and Eric loved it. So there you go - he had Dumble on the brain!

I asked Greg if he let Eric try his 20W Milkman but he said its stashed away at a secret location in Santa Barbara. A milkman can dream 8)
