Dave, micro slippage is the reason many break strings when installing.

Micro slippage occurs at the point when the string is nearly up to pitch. The slippage of the string across the changer finger can damage a string (on the underside) enough to make it break especially when you depress the pedal and especially when there are wear marks on the changer finger.

One very good solution to this problem is to take some light lubricant and put it on your finger.
Rub your finger on the changer finger everywhere the string makes contact and then install the string.

Sid...it wasn't the strings fault, it was mine, I got too aggressive in stretching it. Broke at tuner end by nut.

I was trying to say that the third is lasting through the second set of other strings...although I change before they are completely worn out.

Strings are great and I wouldn't use any other!!!

Indeed, sealed string packs are the way to go. As a 6 string player out 4-5 nights a week I would replace the set every 2 or 3 days depending on how hard I was playing. I used GHS Boomer open packs then. Now because I don't play out much and string sets sit around for a while I began to notice they weren't as bright. I tried some D'addario's which are sealed in plastic and have stayed with them since. Metal tarnishes when exposed to air ...period! So I'll always used sealed packaged strings ..even SS ones.

Like Dave, I too have broken a string (just 1) but it was MY fault. The strings are great. Thanks for a great product Sid. Larry

Ok players I have something to share with you.

I was in Home Depot the other night with the wife while she was looking for something.

I noticed this little Gizmo with Micro Fiber fingers on it for cleaning Blinds and a light went on in my head.
A string cleaner!

I bought one of them only to discover it works fantastic!

You slide the fingers over the strings, compress the Gizmo and run it up the neck of the steel.

With one swipe you have cleaned the Topside and the Underside of every string.

I paid $4.97 for it. “Home Depot”

Congrats on the new strings. No doubt they are amazing. Your strings improved the action on my GFI. And I appreciate the prompt customer service. Most excellent!

My report on the new Cryo Strings from Live Steel Strings.

I don't make a living selling Steel Guitar Strings but it has been great fun developing something that enhances the enjoyment we all have when playing our Steel Guitars.

The New Cryo Strings have Better Tone, Stay in Tune better, Last Longer, Have more Sustain than any string that has ever been made.

I have never heard anything that is in the same Zip Code as the new Cryo Strings.

Now here is a Bold statement:
If you find this not to be true, send them back to me in 30 days and I will refund your money.

Add me to the list of extremely happy customers. I have been using these strings for a year now and they have the best tone and sustain I have experienced in any string. I always order a customized 12 string set (actually several sets at a time). The only reason I change strings every few months is to help make sure Sid stays in this business because other than that, these strings sound like new even after 3 months use at a time. Very Happy

This was my first time visiting the TSGA in Dallas since I have been flying under the radar for the last 25 years.

I would like to thank the following players for asking me to play guitar on their segment of the show.

Russ Hicks
Mike Johnson
Buck Reid
Wayne Hobbs
Chuck Back
Joan Cox
Doug Jernigan
It was a blast to play with the best steel guitarist in the world.

I would also like to express my apologies to the rest of the players that asked me to play that I declined.
I got really tired and had a head cold that would make a mule lay down. I will try to pace myself better next time around.

I don’t have a clue how Roy Rosetta does it.

Thanks to all the Live Steel String customers that visited the booth and introduced yourself.

Sid, please list the gauges for your custom ext E9 sets on your website. Standard ext E9 sets show that, but custom ones don't, so buyers cannot tell the difference in gauges.

Thanks!

Big John,

The custom sets allow the customer to choose his/her custom gauges when they order at no extra charge.

We don't know what the gauges are until the customer places the order.

A printing company prints the art. Your request could be a bit of a challenge.

Aw, I see. That could be more clearly stated on the site, then. I thought it was just missing info.

Would like to say Sid that you are one fine guitar player and I enjoyed meeting you in Dallas. First time there for me and hopefully not the last. Will be getting more strings soon. Thanks for a great string...Ron

Friends, I get a number of emails with folks finding it difficult to navigate themselves through our website. Most do not have any problems.

Some emails say, “I tried to purchase but I don’t have a pay pal account”
We accept credit cards as well as Pay Pal. It’s your pleasure.

If you are having trouble figuring out things, the simple solution may be just to call Jordan at 804-452-2019. She is working the phones from 9-5 Monday through Friday’s. She is quite pleasant to speak with.

If you place a phone order, Jordan keeps your string information on file in her office. The next time you call there is no need to explain your custom gauges, nickel vs. stainless and so on unless you prefer to make a change from your last order. She already knows what you use.

Order before 2:00 p.m. and get same day shipping.

We are happy everyone is fan of Live Steel Strings.

Again the phone number is 804-452-2019.

P.S On a side note:

I have been working on CD project that is due to be completed in about 3-4 weeks.

On this CD I am playing Steel Guitar (E9th ballads and up-tempo tunes). I am also playing C6th on this project. (preferred weapon of choice)

We will have the CDs on Live Steel Strings website when they are available. Cost will be $10

Sid
