Hey Guys,

I've seen the posts about the Fender Cable Steels.

First of all, my apologies for the delays on this project. I never intended for this project to take this long. Anticipation is one of the reasons that I really didn't want the information out there, that these were in work. I really wanted to have these complete before the news was out.

I have completed some 1800 individual components for 12 builds. This includes some spares and I still have a few hundred to go. I am committed to supporting the Fender cable steels.

There are questions in another post about the Fender style pedal quick connects. I have the drawings and the material but have not been able to get these parts into my schedule yet.

Thanks to all of my forum brothers for the great response to my other parts as my inventories have been depleted on numerous parts from orders worldwide. That's where the majority of my energies have been concentrated as I have tried to backfill my inventories as quickly as possible. That's where, and why, the Fender project has languished.

I also discovered that there were two different main pulley stack arrangements used. I have data on the shorter one but not on the longer one. In addition, I just purchased a Fender 2000 and preliminary look/see tells me that the opening(relief) in the rear apron of the frame casting is different than on the 400/800 models. Not a big deal but may require a slight redesign of the main mounting rail.

Now for the kicker....
As of Friday, Mar. 15, 2013, my wife just accepted a position in Temple, Texas. This now means a 900 mile move for us from Tucson, AZ. Her start date is June 3rd but she needs to be there a week earlier. That's 7 weeks from now.

I hope to continue getting some parts made in the next few weeks but the reality is that I can't predict just how much I will get accomplished.

We hope to find a property with a large workshop where I have capability to add more equipment that will allow me to do more and better serve the needs of the pedal steel community.

I appreciate your understanding and patience with all that I have taken on and your support.

I'm anticipating at least a 3 month downtime once we begin executing this move and get setup once again.

I will continue to ship any orders that I receive, to best of my ability.

Thanks so much for the update and for supporting those of us weird enough to play Fenders! The amount of work you do coupled with the move to TX ... it sounds exhausting. I will certainly be in touch with you about some knees for my 1000.

We're not bustin' your chops here- I for one am looking forward to getting my knee levers

I was just thinking if maybe we could give you a more realistic number of how many people were waiting it 'may' influence the order of your workload...

I'll be waiting patiently for the next update.

I feel kind of bad, as I am the lucky guy that has the prototype that Michael designed and built on my Fender pedal steel.. In sharing my excitement at what a marvelous and innovative system Michael came up with, perhaps I let the "cat out of the bag" too soon... I know Michael had committed to building parts for Fender cable steels, but he got so busy with orders for all his other great parts, that there simply wasn't time to fully gear up.... I know that because I bugged him a few times myself!
Suffice it to say, when he does sell these parts, he will sell a LOT of them.. The design is flawless, installation is effortless, and operation is seamless.. Just a joy. In any case Mike, I hope you aren't angry with me about this for telling guys about it... bob

I am too Herb -- Welcome to Texas, Mike. You'll also be right down the road from machinist and steel builder Jim Flynn at Lone Star Steels in Salado.

Jay, no problem man. You've been so patient as you and Carlucci were the first involved in this project.

Bob, no worries. It is what it is and I had anticipated having it complete over 6 months ago but the outpouring of orders that I've been receiving keeps taking precedence over this project, and Thanks for being the guinea pig/test bed!

Herb and Jeff, really looking forward to gettin over there. Agnes and I have been talking about making the move to Texas for years now. I know that I'll be in good company within that region with Flynn, Giles, Steiner, Talley, MSA, and a slew of folks I'm not even aware of as yet.

Dan, was wondering how your project was going.

As today it was official with Agnes' position, I've been running trying to jump start all the processes that need to happen in the next 7 weeks. Hopefully I'll still have my sanity by the time we get there...
Uh, if I don't, will that make me a better steel player??

aha! So it is to be....great! After you've settled in Michael, perhaps we can re-visit our discussion concerning....

And dont be a stranger at any Ray Price shows in the area; you'll never have to buy a ticket.
