A friend of mine is considering one of these.
An amazing beast it seems.
Offered with a 23inch scale as well as a 25 inch (standard Beard custom length but at $200 extra).
The small quarterman (9inch) and spider give it a Dobro (ish ) sound.
McIntyre or Barcus Berry choice of on board pickups.
Seems to fit the bill for someone who needs a transportable resophonic guitar but who also would welcome a bit of lap steel electric too.

I have never seen one "in the flesh" and I cannot give my pal the advice he needs.

Has anyone played one or owned one ?

I have the utmost respect for Paul Beard and I am sure that the guitar is of the highest build quality etc.

I just wonder what you slidy people out there think of this particular guitar.

Any advice welcomed.

All the best

Bill, I've sold one for Paul at Grass Valley, very very beautiful instruments with excellent amplified sound for stage use. It was a drool guitar for everybody.

The travel reso is a neat instrument and is fitted with a mando resonator and cut down spider. It also sounds very cool when outfitted with a p/u.

It'll never compete with a full bodied reso in a band situation.

You _knew_ that though.

Does he build an 8-string version?
