Microphonics??

Help please!! I have a E66 p/up started acting like a microphone instead of a pickup. Is that common? What can I do??

Not a common problem...but it does happen. There are 3 fixes. Replace the pickup (easiest, but most expensive...about $90), have the pickup "potted" with hot wax (works most of the time (cheapest, at about $30...but not easy with the design of the E-66), or have it vacuum-impregnated with acrylic (cost...nearly as much as a new pickup...about $75). The problem is caused by loose windings, or other defects in the pickup (loose bobbins, plates, or cracked magnets).
