Wake up, fellas! THAT IS NOT A SHOBUD!! That's a Fender that has been stripped, new body built and inlayed, and a raised neck put on to go with the ShoBud changer they put on. That Keyhead is odd. From what I know ShoBud always used the Gumby or a straight Keyhead. If that's a ShoBud Keyhead, they cut the tail off. I don't know why someone would even do that, so I'm gonna guess its a junk Keyhead. Not original ShoBud. BUYER BEWARE!!
Also be aware there is another seller on eBay right now pushing some questionable "name brand" parts. Particularly ShoBud parts. Keyheads, fingers and such... |

| ....and you'll notice the "cut outs" on the underneath keyhead end plate for the screws that hold the keyhead. ShoBud would never have done that. |

If you read the copy attached to the guitar, you'll see that the cabinet was built in 2009, and the parts are from an 80's Sho-Bud after having extensive modifications done at a steel guitar shop. That would explain the cut peghead and endplates, and the non-Bud inlay placement.
To me it looks like a professionally done custom guitar with Sho~Bud hardware, also modified. It all looks very, very well done to me. Just not a "stock" Sho~Bud. It could very well be a guitar that Terry Christopherson or some other professional player in Bakersfield played.

At the current price, I wouldn't hesitate. Like Herb said, it seems like a well done job.

Well, the seller says it "performed many times at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace". Hell, Buck probably played that guitar hisself many a nights. There's no telling what other pro's could've sat at that thing! You boys better jump on that thing!!
But really, this seller doesn't seem knowledgable at all. He says "it looks like a Pro II". With this guys feedback/seller history, I'd say stay away from this one...And if any of you really think this guitar in question is better built than a "real" Sho-Bud, email me. Because I'll buy this piece of crap, and then you can trade me for your Pro I...Any takers???  IMO this guitar hit its max value a few days ago. I'd rather have a stock Fender Artist than this piece of junk! But that's just my opinion...There's a few people that want it apparently... |

| I agree with Todd & Herb - I rebuilt my early 70’s Fender S-10 to a 3 & 5 and this one looks like Fender body - pedal bar & legs to me -- the end plates are fender as well -- the 1973 fender had the angle -- at least the one i have has the angle end plates . |

Hello everyone, I'm the ebay seller of this guitar. After reading all the posts on this I'm just as confused you all are and have made concession to this on ebay.
I bought the guitar at a local shop and at the time I had no reason to believe it not to be a ShoBud.

This is my first experience at selling on ebay. It is true this guitar has a history on the Crystal Palace stage, I have performed nearly 200 shows there over the 12 years I have been associated w/the Crystal Palace. I will concede to my ignorance regarding ShoBud guitars but it seems unreasonable to me to spend too much time researching this considering the grey areas in the ShoBud libraries (I have a day job). I did not chisel my description of the guitar in stone nor am I out to deceive anyone. The ebay experience for me has been "learn as you go" and listing this over an iPhone is convenient but has it's limits.  |

The fact that the guitar is built from various parts from other guitars is most likely the concern of folks here on the Forum -- I will say ! -- I have one made of the same stuff that dates back to the early 70’s , it the most fun PSG I have ever had - light Wt. - stays in tune , and sounds grate -- who ever gets this guitar your selling may be pleasantly surprised . |

| Thanks for your input. Your comments struck home regarding this guitar, it's very light weight (33lbs. in the case) and for some unknown reason I find it extremely easy to to find harmonics on, not so on my GFI's which seem to require a little more finesse to accomplish that task. |

Well...I bet you all are wondering what happend to the Fho-Bud....Well I raided the hooker fund and I,v got her down in my basement!!!
After a hour or so "Tweeking her up" she's ready to go!!!
Plays real nice,Great sustain,And realy light!!!
Looks like a Pro 11 changer,Pot metal knees and cranks,Gumby headstock missing it's tail.
So all in all I,m very pleased with her.
A true "Happy Ending" |
