Jim. I used tape on occasion. I had some very thin tape a half inch wide, from England. strong stuff with a reinforcement web in it. I applied it all around the outside edges. It wouldn't come off in a 100 years.
Got mine at Lee Valley Tools. Got one of them in NB?

Hi Dickie,
Then I would just cut some 1/2" pieces..put 2 in each end and two in the middle

You can order lightweight thin tape from places like GolfWorks or buy it at a bigger golf shop. It is thinner and lighter than double sided carpet tape. I would cover the entire underside of the fretboard and cut away the excess. You can get the tape in two inch widths. They also sell single strips that are two inches wide and as long as a golf grip.
Use naphtha, or if you are in a state that no longer sells Naphtha, use the safe golf grip solvent you can buy along with the tape. Wetting the tape with this stuff allows you to slide the fretboard around for thirty seconds before it sticks forever. That is how you are able to slide a golf grip onto a shaft before it sticks.
Clean up with the same solvent.

why not use some self adhesive velcro? That way you could just mix and match fret boards as you desire.
Sorry to hijack the thread but...does anyone know if I could put a 12 string emmons fretboard on my Sierra Olympic? Thanksa

How much tape to put on ?
Well, you put a bit on, and then, if the fingerboard comes off, you didn't have enough.
Whichever way you do it, it's a lot easier to remove and do it again than it would be if you had used glue, and double-sided tape doesn't dissolve its way into the plastic like some glues do.
