I know this has been hashed before but every winter my hands get really slick and I have a difficult time holding onto the bar. Does anyone know of a new product that is helpful or recommend what you have found out to be a good help for this serious matter?

Sounds like a lack of moisture, you need glycerin reguarly on your skin. We use Cornhuskers lotion. That is a brand by the way. It contains glycerin and if used on a daily basis will help you. Winking Works for us.

I NEVER wash my hands prior to playing for that very reason.

I've always found the normal grit that one can find on the hands is adequate for me to be able to grasp and hold the bar. Mess that up with soap or sanitizer lotion and holding the bar becomes impossible. Even after-shave can create problems.

I'd never resort to any kind of 'sticky'....... just a personal thing, I guess. Rolling Eyes

Dry winter skin is slicker.
I try to keep my hands lotioned every day, until a few hours before I play, then I wash the lotion off. I find if I keep my hands clean, the strings last longer

I don't "grip" the bar in the traditional sense. I hold it lightly between my thumb and middle fingertip, each gripping slightly below the centerline. This affords me the ability to pick it up easily and move it. IMHO, the secret to a smooth, flowing playing style is a light grip on the bar. Winking
