ShoBud Maverick Facelift / Upgrade pics & vid

Post by Jordan Bissonnette »

Hey guys,

I decided to have a little bit of fun with my ShoBud Maverick so I've:

- Removed vinyl covering and varnished the wood
- Installed a Bill Lawrence L-710 pickup
- Installed a 2nd knee lever to raise the F#'s to G#'s (Only option available really with the Mavericks , ideally I would of rather raised the E's)
- Polished the chrome
Before:

Here's the finished product:

You can check out a video I quickly made last night of me playing a song with the finished Shobud Maverick, I've purposely added a few licks with the new knee lever to show what it gives me.

For anyone interested I've taken pics of the project from start to finish which you can check out here. I still need to add pics of how the 2nd knee lever works underneath.

Congrats Jordan! You did a great job on the restoration. I listened to Silent Night and I liked what I heard. You must be practicing a lot to be that good in such a short time. Keep working at it...you're gonna go places!

awesome thanks for the kind words guys! It's been 10 crazy months but I'm super glad I took up the pedal steel. The hardest part is finding time to practice lead guitar and lap steel but I wouldnt have it any other way

It really looks great. I'm very interested in seeing the underside, as one of these days I intend to go down the same road with my mav.

Sounds good Michael , I'll take a pick and send it to you via private message soon. It's nothing special just to warn you haha and the rod that was sent to me was too thick so in the meantime I'm using a trusty coat hanger :) works great though

haha thanks James! not sure if I'll start a guitar restoration business... not everyone will appreciate a coat hanger for a knee lever rod like I do :)

do you have a youtube channel ?
