Pop music today bears no relation to rock. Alan. It's all very clever, advanced digital gimickry. The most popular singer in the world today is "auto-tune".Alan Brookes wrote:I have no idea what the term "rock" now encompasses. It seems to mean nothing more than "pop" nowadays.

Rock is typically guitar-based music in 4/4 time with strong bass lines, drums & cymbals. Very little of today's pop music is remotely close to that profile.

Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube.

Yes, that's rock and roll, and it's usually syncopated, but during the 60s they even started calling Joan Baez rock, and they started introducing all sorts of minor chords. It seems to me that the term rock has lost its meaning.Bobb Lee wrote:Rock is typically guitar-based music in 4/4 time with strong bass lines, drums & cymbals.
