Push Pull/ How many Knee levers is too many?

Post by Buck Dilly »

I have a D-10 with 8 and 7. I could easily find a use for 2 more knee levers on the B6 neck. Do any of you Push-Pull owners have 8 or 9 knee levers? Mike Cass said it is pretty tight in there already, and although I believe him, I can still hope can't I? (Please- no comments on why I want so many knee levers.)

I have a push pull that Jimmie Crawford built for me with 10 floors and 10 knees. It can be done, but like Cass said--it's tight! You can barely fit your fingers underneath the guitar anywhere! I think Jimmie built at least 20 of these.

The main problem, if you already have 7 knees, is that to add 2 more, you might(might) have to 'gut' your guitar and start from scratch to fit them. It definitely can be done.....but it costs a bit more than alot of people want to give to spend so much time rebuilding. The good news is, when you do this, you not only get the knee levers you want, but when a good builder like Cass, or me(shucks), get done, you have a guitar that is perfectly balanced and plays great. If you just got a complete re-build, you might pay close to the same, so, once you got it all apart, it's a piece of cake to put whatever you want under there....but, like John says, with 8+ 8 or 9 or 10......it's mighty tight, and you should really be well versed in PP mechanics to even make the slightest adjustment yourself. Move one little collar, and you could throw out several knees or pedals.
