Short of a willing local Forum member, your only two established steel-guitar businesses are 70-100 miles away: Jim Palenscar's Steel Guitars North County In Oceanside. (That's North San Diego County which is south of Orange County which is south of Los Angeles County, where Studio City is.) Blackie Taylor Music is in Riverside, Riverside County, east of Los Angeles County. I expect both stores can be found on the SGF's Links. And you'll have to ask Jim and Blackie if they do rentals at all.
Thirty or so years ago, a pedal-steel HQ was Studio City Music, long out of business. O tempora, O mores.
PSG is probably too esoteric and high-maintenance an item, but there are places like Studio Instrument Rentals (SIR, Hollywood) and Andy Brauer's rental business (San Fernando Valley?) who provide instruments, amps and backline gear. (A real experienced and working SoCal musician should weigh in on this second paragraph--as opposed to your humble and well-intentioned closet-player here.) _________________ "Gopher, Everett?" |
