Sho-Bud Questions

Post by Steve Schaefer »

I have been thinking about buying a Sho-Bud. There seems to be many different makes and modals. What are some of the years and modals I should look for. I know that these guitars have some age on them. What are some of the costly problems you can run into buying a use guitar like this? Also what are some of the questions I should ask the seller before I buy?

Thanks in advance for you help.

If you buy one from Bobbe Seymour at Steel Guitar Nashville you will get one in tip top condition. Bobbe will gladly answer all your questions concerning Sho-Buds. He is VERY knowledgable on them. He has two excellent quality single necks and the double neck Pro-II Custom is also an outstanding guitar. If this is your first Sho-Bud I suggest that you buy from a dealer like Steel Guitar Nashville. You can get in trouble with alot of the beat up Sho-Buds out there that are in poor condition. Most of them that haven't past through a reputable steel shop are not in good condition. Even some that do are still in poor condition. I have two in restored mint condition. They are tone monsters!
[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 03 November 2002 at 08:18 PM.]

Hi Steve,

You just left a message on my answer machine with your phone number and I have been trying to call you but I didn't get your complete phone number. Youk can e-mail me with your correct phone number and I will call you and tell you about the 2 nice Sho-Buds I have for sale on the forum. My steels are priced probably a little lower than thru Bobbe Seymour who is a great person and fantastic Steel player. I currently have a neck off of a old Sho-Bud that Bobbe gave me back in 1979 when I lived in Nashville and lived on Bobbe's boat. I play that neck like a lap steel because it doesnt't have pedals. I worked at Sho-Bud for a short period in 1979 just when they fired eveyone and moved to Arkansaw. I can a sure you that both of these Sho-Buds Sound and play great. My e-mail is CARLGREEN57@msn.com and my phone # 707-538-3163
Thank you,
Carl Green
