I'm putting a Wallace TrueTone pickup into my project guitar. Jerry Wallace sent me a plastic mounting piece and if I remember correctly, told me to glue the pickup to it. My question is this: There are two countersunk mounting screws on the plastic piece and they will come into contact with the pickup's magnets (on the bottom); should I put a thin piece of rubber between screws and magnets or is it okay as is? I've included a photo for clarification. Thanks!

Interesting. First JW has " Gone Home"
Second, I could see the flux pattern of that magnet being altered. I would use nylon bolts, with a jam nut up under the plate. I have built and rewound many pickups and being anal, altering just a couple of magnets different from the norn, would just bug me. Ron

Looks to me like a little double-stick tape would serve both to hold the pickup down and insulate it from the screws.

Wallace TT Question
Through magnetic induction, the mounting screws are magnetically coupled to the magnet in the pickup, and I doubt very much that insulation (a spacer) would make any noticeable difference.
