Does anybody remember this steel player?

His name was George Lee McCoy. He was from east Texas and played for Ernest Tubb and others.

Yhe George Mccoy I knew played a strait steel and played in the Ft Worth area and on the Cowboy Weaver th show George comsidered it the biggest complement that Weaver paid him. George had played SGR and Cowboy said "That was great. That sounded like SGR" Keep your thumb pick hot. cc

I was telling his Grandson (also a musician from that area) that if we posted on the Forum that we would likely find someone who knew him. We appreciate any stories folks have as well as any knowledge of records he was on etc.

Still doing the country show at the Nugget downtown and working with Scotty Alexander when he's in town. He moved to Nashville last yr and is writing w Brian White and doing demo's etc. Let me know if you get to Vegas, love to c ya.
