Bad news about Chris Ethridge

Post by Joachim Kettner »

I thought twice about posting this bad news, but I'm sure he has many fans here.

Booker T. Jones wrote this on April 19 in his facebook page:
Just talked to Chris Ethridge, (Burritos, Willie Nelson), hospitalized in Meridian, MS - send love and hope - doctors say he will pass soon.

Sorry to here about Chris. The band on the other side just keeps getting better and better. My favorite recording of Chris's bass playing is Judy Collins Who knows Where the Time goes album. Not a big Judy Collins fan but that album was great. Rhythm section of Chris and Jim Gordon, James Burton and Steven Stills on guitars, Buddy Emmons on steel. Chris played these great floating bass lines. Favorite songs he cowrite, Hot Burrito 1&2. RIP chris

Bummer, at least we can still listen to these guys and we can see him and Gram and Pete on that cool Gilded Palace of Sin album cover, clasic stuff.

Sad news, That only leaves Hillman left as an original Burrito.

Rest in peace Chris.
Regards, Craig

Nice article. Man, what a creative bass player. Equally great with the Burritos and on the '70s Ry Cooder stuff, but using a very different approach for each.

R.I.P. to "an old hippie from Mississippi".
