Just hooked up my TC M One today. Have played with it a couple of hours....so far have found nothing that I'm satisfied with. Could some of you share your settings with me so that I can get a decent "starting place"????? I ordered Brad Sarno"s Revelation pre-amp a couple of weeks ago and I'm halfway tempted to just use the onboard reverb w a Boss DD pedal and chuck all the fancy stuff. All assistance is appreciated!!!!! JV

Dave, I ve spent 4 or 5 hours today "playing" with the M One and "keep coming back" to my Lexicon MX 200. Basically I use the same setting in the LEX with subtle changes like "wetter" or "dryer" or a little more "verb" in this one or a little less delay in that one (about 6 user defined settings). This is all I need or want.

Bottom line: Do you think the Lex would be an appropriate match for the Revelation preamp which should be here in 2-3 weeks. You really sound like you know what ou are talking about and I could use your expertise!!! Thanks

Jim,

Not sure which Lex you are talking about but I had an MPX-1 that I used with my Revelation and it sounded great.

I then switched to the TC G-Major and have been happy with that as well.

Where in Texas are you located? Am in the DFW area and would be glad to help you get what you want out of your setup.

Regards,

M

Just saw which Lex you had. Still can help if you want it.

M

Hi, Jim, As you're aware, there are a lot of settings on the M-one, and many of them interact. so here are a couple of the programs I use a lot that I've programmed for my rig and sound, this should give you an idea of where I'm starting from. (I use mine in the effects loop of my Walker Stereo Steel amp)Global settings: Input level 3 o'clock, Mix level full on, Effect balance noon or straight up. Routing: Serial
Big Ballad Plate sound:
FX 1: Hall Reverb- decay:3.0 sec- PreDelay: 10ms- Size: Large- High Cut: 2.74- HI Color: 0- Lo Color: 0- Reflective Level: 0db- Reverb Level: -4db- Mod type off (so no mod settings) FX level: 100%
FX 2: Two-Tap delay- Del time 1: 500 ms- Dly Time 2: 372 ms- offset R:0 Fdbk 1: 10%- Fdbk 2: 8%- Level 1: 0db- Level 2: 0db- Pan 1: 50L- Pan 2: 50R- High cut: 20.0K- Low cut: 19.95 Hz- FX level: 61%

Chorus and Medium room sound : FX 1: Classic Chorus- Speed: 0.178- Depth: 50%- delay: 20.0ms- FX level: 100%- FX 2: Room Reverb- Decay: 2.0- Predelay: 0- Size: small- High cut: 3.25K- Hi Color: -3- Lo Color: 3- Reflective Level: -6db- Reverb Level: 0 db- Mod: off- FX level 100%

Those should give you a starting point. They are very different from most of the factory presets. There's a lot to play with in the M one for sure. I hope this helps.
Best wishes, MvA

The problem with the Lexicon MX200 is that it does NOT offer the proper parallel routing and mix control to work in the Rev's effects loop. The Lexicon MPX-1 will do it, but it's tricky to program. The TC M-One can sound great, but it is vital that the settings are done properly. With the Rev's parallel loop, you're gonna want to stick to just reverb and delay, no modulation effects.

For now, you should mess with "serial" routing, but when you get it connected to the REV preamp, you MUST switch it over to "parallel/serial" and put Delay on Engine 1 and Reverb on Engine 2. This lets you send some delays over to the reverb.

- Keep both effects mixed at 100% wet - effect only. Then control the relative balance between delay and reverb with the effects "level" controls.

The Hall reverb set around 3 seconds of decay time is a good start, like Mark pointed out. I would make the "predelay" about 55ms to 65ms.

But for delays, I'd start simple with the One-Tap delay. Set the Hi-Cut at around 2500Hz to warm and darken the repeats. Set the Low-Cut at around 180Hz to remove any muddy bass from your echoes. Set the "feedback" so that you can barely hear the 3rd echo.

The M-One can sound fantastic with proper settings.
