an unsuccessful experiment

Post by Mike Perlowin »

I just put a peizo acoustic guitar pickup on my steel. It successfully picked up the vibrations of the strings, but it also picked up and amplified all the mechanical noise.

I have 2 lead guitars retrofitted with these pickups and wired for stereo (wth a mono switch for convenience) between the electric and acoustic tones, and I love the way they sound. On a lead guitar this is a great system, and I'm going to install it on all my other instruments including my non-pedal steel guitars.

But this is definately not a good idea for a pedal steel guitar. Too bad. If it had worked it would have been very cool.

Oh well..........

Hi Mike,
Good to see that you`re well !
I installed a saddle piezo on my Asher lap steel and it works real good !
One should never stop experimenting....
