Derby Steel cabinet maker

I am trying to find out who is now building the cabinet for the derby steel. I talked to Charlie's Widow last week and she told me that a person by the name of Paul, who lives just over state line, in Indiana. I have a derby that has the Formica strip
That has came loose when my leg dragged across the bottom of it. Does anyone know who this Paul is and how I can get a hold of him ???

Thank you Jerry. I appreciated information that you gave me and I did follow up on the two that you gave me but as of yet never received a response. I also contacted main source and talked to them but have never been able to get their phone to answer since.

I am a little concerned that this Derby steel was purchased a year before Charlie sadly left us and I have already have had other lamination problems with this Steel and now I have another one that I feel I should not be having. For the lamination to be lifting off of cabinet that cost $3000.00 does not leave a good tast in your mouth.

If there is anyone who knows where I can buy this Formica piece that is on back side of cabinet and has the toggle switch cutout I will be glad to buy it. I'm not asking for something free and I understand things happen. I just want to get it fixed. I'm not knocking the Steel but I do believe support has a value also.

The last time I emailed Bob at Derby, it took him a week to get back to me. But he did, was more then helpful and answered my every question.

This lamination thing is not just a Derby problem, I once saw a Rains with a similar situation and have heard of many more on other steels.

Is that piece of laminate broken? I suppose about any steel builder could match it up and punch the cutout for the switch provided you have all the pieces.

Jerry. You did just fine. You gave me the right path to go down. I left a PM for them. Do you think a email would have been better. In any case, maybe I will hear from someone. Maybe someone knows where I can a piece of the Formica without having to buy a 4 x 4 sheet that I hope I will never need

James find a local Cabinet or Counter Top shop in your area, they will most likely give you a small piece free of charge. If it pulled of from your legs rubbing against it the contact must have not been applied properly and the edge must have not been sanded flush. There were more than a few years when contact glue was really bad, especially if it was water base, sounds like it might have been. Today's Wilson Art Contact is as good as it gets. Also Lacquer thinner, Finger nail polish, etc. will loosen up contact glue. Your friendly Cabinet, Counter top Guy.
