Need Volunteers For Live Webcast
For those who tuned in to the live webcast last year, it was a lot of fun, and we would like to be able to provide that feature again. It's a great way for those who can't be with us, to still tune in and see the show. However, we need a volunteer(s) to run and handle that piece of the production this year.
Last year we used UStream as the net service - an account is free and simple to set up. The operator will need to learn how to set up the web cam to talk to the Ustream (it's pretty simple and they have tutorials). The Ustream interface has a text chat window that allows account holders to chat live during the event. Rick Alexander's widow was not only able to see the event, but was able to meet & chat with some of Rick's friends whom she hadn't met before.
But one doesn't have to chat, nor even enter the chat room...a viewer can simply log on and just watch the stream anonymously (if he/she doesn't necessarily want to chat with other viewers).
The rental of a T line from the hotel's AV department is quite expensive. Before paying for the Ethernet connection, I want to be sure that there is First, an interest in having a webcast; and, Secondly, we need a volunteer to be in charge of running it. We have a Mac OS laptop that can be used, but we still need a webcam. So if anyone out there would like to handle the webcast portion of the event, please email me as soon as possible.
The operator doesn't have to use Ustream if another type of streaming service is preffered. You can even bring your own computer & cam if you don't want to use our laptop. And I guess we really don't have to have a 'chatting' room, as long as the music & video streams. But the chat room is a nice feature for fellow fans across the globe to chat during the event.
Frankly, I have too many other duties to be able to occupy time with it. I can get the T-line activated and set up, but someone else will need to take over from there...as long as it gets done by someone who is knowledgeable enough to do it (assuming the audience even wants it to see it).
So, the two questions are, do you guys even want a live webcast of the 2012 RA NP Sessions? And if so, who would like to set it up and run it?
Thanks for everyone's help and support!

Hey Chuck, look forward to seeing you 31 days!
Thanks Ron and Neil! Ron, did you did you get a chance to view it last year? Neil tuned in, even though it was the middle of the night across the pond, I think. I hope it can pan out. But if not, we'll still have some videos to post afterwards.
By the way, for those of you who knew Rick, it was his birthday last week...he would have been 65. I know he and Red Kilby are at that big all-star jam up in the sky, and their spirits will be with us at the show.
It's not too late to book a flight to Dallas...Delta's ready when you are!

Yes, Jeff, I caught some of the live feed, some good fun. But as cool as it was, most folk can't spend the whole day glued to it, yet don't want to miss out on a highlite should we not be able to record it. Therefore, I'd suggest not worrying too much over getting the feed and focus on completely capturing the music then as last year providing a full but edited recap afterwards.
And might I further suggest closer/better mic placement this time so we get clearer music minus distracting audience banter?
Thanx as always for the efforts put into such a worthy venture!

Just to update...
Neil and Ron, I appreciate your positive vote for the live feed, but unfortunately we won't be able to have one this year. But please stay tuned after the show for You Tube videos!
I've started a new thread for the show so the most current schedule on top. I'll also post any updates there:

Brad, please lock this one up when you get a chance.
Thanks!
