Danny Maitland, Guitarist, Passes

Post by Dave A. Burley »

I have just recieved word tht our friend and musician, Danny Maitland , passed away yesterday. Danny had been ill for several years. There is no doubt in my mind that Danny was one of the all around best musician's to ever come out of Muskegon County in Muskegon, Mich. Danny turned me on to Tommy Jackson style twin fiddle in the late fifties. Danny and Wally Kuhlman hooked it. Danny was a country/jazz guitar player similar to the late great Hank Garland. When Danny played you listened if you were a musician. Danny was 74 years old. God bless and rest in peace my friend.

Danny, brother Todd, and Wally used to come up to our home in Manton, MI. occasionally, (when we were in our late teens)and we would pick all night long.
