I use one exclusively as a preamp into a Nash 400. I bought it used long ago because I was looking for the following features in a single box: parametric eq, delay, reverb, chorus and noise reduction. It also has a notch filter. It includes a bunch of digital preamp overdrives/distortions etc. I set it up for one of the clean preamp settings for pedal steel.

I think it sounds great. I don't use the distortions and only rarely the chorus (but it is a very decent chorus effect). Every effect is tweakable and can be saved - I think there are 64 user locations. After some experimenting I found some settings that were very good. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks Ambrose, I might be asking you for some help on settings.
