Picks and bar storage
Got any good ideas for pick and bar storage?
In the past I've used film canisters for picks and a leather bag for my bar. I prefer an oval film canister to the round one as it is less likely to roll off a surface and get lost. I usually loose the cover though.
Does anyone have a source for these?
Hmmm....what would be the ideal pick/bar container?

Ahh, questions of the ages... Well someone gave me a nice leather pouch that holds picks and allen wrenches nicely. I slip my bar into a drawstring pouch before including it in the leather pouch and all is hunky dory. The trick is a place to get a place to set your bar where you can pick it up quickly when you're ready to play again.

Jim,
Here's what I use for keeping them handy at home or on the stage.

Cal's carrying case looks pretty cool for transport though.

Picks and tuning wrench go in a prescription bottle.
Bars go in a piece of 2Lb. Unifoam (left over from making Dagorhir weapons) wedged in among the strings in the sidekick of my seat.
Once set up, the bottle gets poured out between the necks and the bars rest between 5&6 in the closed keyhead of the Zum.
On the MSA, the bars join the picks

This is what I did recently. I got tired of having to grab so many things out of the pakaseat that I attached a zippered pouch I got from the craft section at WalMart that most use to hold pencils and such. I sewed the bag in half to create a pouch that holds extra strings and wire cutters. The other pouch holds my bar.
To hold the bag on the side of my pakaseat, I attached velcro fasteners I found in the tape section of WalMart.

I got one of these drink holders that was made for drums but fits very nicely on the steel (it's hard to see from the pic but you can twist the knob and kind of angle it). My drink is in it when I'm playing and when I stop I trade in my drink for the picks and bar.

We are working at getting our new items up on our website today. Have western boot 'stockings' and many new stocking stuffers in time for Christmas.
