Ricky Davis Sho~Bud Shop Back In Biz!!!!!

Post by Ricky Davis »

Ok folks;I've been out of the Sho~bud Refurbish business for quite a while, but now I'M BACK. I would love to take your old Sho~bud and make it look and play new again. I'm ONLY doing Refurbish; meaning it is all the original parts that are on the Steel. Of course if some need replacing; that can be done. I'm working in conjunction with my good friend James Morehead; as for the last couple years I've had to turn all ya'll away to Him. James is swamped of course; with his set back with cutting his freakin' hand almost off with chainsaw; to his CNC guy that was helping him make parts, going belly up. I'm taking some of those projects off his hands; and he is obtaining new CNC guy as we speak; and we will get him caught up and I will get Work(very much needed at this point for me); and I can get to do one of my Passions with working on the greatest Steel guitar ever made "Sho~bud". If you have any questions; need me to ball-park ideas for your Sho~bud or ready to send it to me to become new and perfect again> email me at:
sshawaiian@austin.rr.com
I'm back living and working in Austin, Tx; my hometown; after a recent breakup with Leslie and now reclaiming myself with the things I love to do the most> Playing and recording Steel guitar and Refurbishing Sho~bud's and playing a little Golf; and trying to be the best single Father to our new 1 1/2 year old Emilee; that I get to see every other week> sigh....

Welcome back, my friend!! I'm glad that you are able to step up and take on some of the refurb work--it sure helps me out, so I can get caught up and keep my shobud pals happy. It's been an upside down year for me with my accident, as many already know and I appreciate the patience most have displayed. And now my MENTOR Ricky is back in the saddle!! We will work together, me supplying parts as Ricky needs them, and Ricky doing his refurb MAGIC that many of you have learned of in the past.

YOUR BACK, BRO!! Yeee Haww!! :D

As far as Sho-Bud refurbs are concerned, this is a partnership made in heaven. Two of the best, and most qualified, reliable people in the business to work on original Sho-Buds.

Ricky, glad to here you are back in the refurb business. I know you and James will do great things for the Sho-buds that people have out there. I have been away from home all summer on an outage in Mississippi. I have been away so long my wife bought a new house and I bought a new Harley Davidson (96 mod). I have sleep 2 nights in the house and she has not seen the HD. The new house is in Granbury, TX. If you have a gig in Forth Worth or around that area and need a place to stay let me know. Sorry to hear about your set-back. If there is anything I can do let me know. Best of luck, Pat

I have a Sho-Bud Professional that Ricky converted from a bound up problem child to a smooth playing dream machine. It really deserves to be played more than it is, actually.

Just another post vouching for RD's skill in working on Sho~Buds and Marlens.

Rick, are you gonna take on Marlens as well?
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Ricky, I'm so happy to hear that you are back refurbishing guitars. The two Sho-Buds you did for me have been tone monsters as well as mechanically sweet.

Hey Ricky -

Great to know we now have 2 giant Sho-Bud experts for refurbs/repairs/advice: you and James Morehead.

Could you - or any satisfied customers - post pictures of your handiwork? Before-and-after pix are best. Many regards, FF.

Thanks Herb; actually I'm glad you still have that sweet ride...and appreciate the kind words. I do love the Marlen; and could probably be talked into working on them; but parts are SOOOO hard to come by is all.
Frank; back when I was doing all this, I never was a big "Before pics" kinda guy; so I mainly posted a bazzillion finished pics; that were in the "House of wood" on my website that I LOST(due to no mula); and now my domain name mightyfinemusic.com is taken by some company in California...ha...no worries; Working on getting my site back up at mightyfinemusic.biz ah....ha...I'll post when it is back up.
Thanks Jan; and that single-10 barrels behind two-hole pullers that I did a C6 tuning for you; probably is the best sounding of all Sho~bud's....Hey plop a couple of pics of that work up here...

So anyway; also anyone finds an ole shobud junker on ebay or whatever...yell at me and I'll fix-er up for ya. And I can also re-do copedents and setups and make your steel play much smoother and more efficient(kinda Tech work I guess): My main thing is I hate for someones steel to not look and/or play as perfect as they would like.

Ricky, I, too miss your website. I especially liked browsing the photos and drooling. Also, the link to the tab was very useful for me. Looking forward to a re-launch.
