Hey all,
So I thought I'd finally try out the Hilton volume pedals after reading so many great reviews. Problem is, I mistakenly ordered a Low Profile from a seller who couldn't accept exchanges. I loved the sound, it just hurt my ankle. My fault.
This is how great Keith is. I didn't think this would happen in a million years, but I wrote him, got a response within minutes - and he offered to exchange it for me if I sent it to him for a regular pedal FOR FREE. This is someone who is accepting a pedal from another seller, and offering to exchange it for free.
If this isn't class A service, I don't know what is.
Now, I'm not bashing the guys at Goodrich because I loved my Goodrich. But, an issue came up with my pedal that I couldn't fix myself. So I called Goodrich and the guy I talked to was 0% helpful. Didn't know anything about the pedal. Had no idea what was wrong. Offered 0% support. That was the deciding factor for me.
Point being. Buy the Hilton. You won't regret it. My steel sounds incredible. The feel is flawless.
Thanks Keith! _________________ www.brandonbankes.com |

Keith is a great guy, with super products and support.
I have 2 of his low profile pedals, and I love them.

The only problems I have had with my Hilton are:
1. I can't seem to get the pedal adjusted to where it doesn't creep down if I take my foot off it. Not a real big problem as I don't have to use two feet with my C6th setup. But, it does allow a loud noise if I touch my strings as I am sitting down at my guitar and don't have my foot on the pedal yet.
2. I was playing a gig a couple hours from home and my volume pedal would not work. Luckily I had my Goodrich LDR2 with me. The wal-wart for the Hilton was putting out less than 2 volts - bad news.
A humorous aside. You see a lot of people complain about wal-warts. You also see a lot of people complain about Wal-Mart. Is it a coincidence that there names are almost identical. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Keith stands behind everything he sell and has made me a happy camper more than once. His volume pedal does everything I want it to and it didn't cost $600. Maybe someday but not now. Atta boy Keith . _________________ Keep pickin', Larry |

Since Larry brought it up, I played a gig last weekend where for the first set I tried one of those $600 (actually they are just under $500 now ). I set it up to the #1 taper (supposedly the same taper as my model of Hilton). It was no where close. In the middle of the travel there was hardly any change in volume level. And the maximum volume level was too low. I constantly had to floor the pedal and still wasn't loud enough. The second set, I switched to my Hilton, and everything was better. I had smooth volume increases, no dead spot, and had full volume (for the band volume) at my normal 1/4 to 3/4 on positions. Never do I have to floor my Hilton. And I made NO changes to my amp when I switched pedals. I know that with time, I could probably get the $500 pedal to work like I want, but for that kind of money, I would expect it to be "plug and play".
Sorry for the side trip here. Just wanted to say you made a good choice on the Hilton. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Richard, I just fixed my Hilton. It went to full volume when
I took my foot off from it, and it was very noisey because
the spring was rubbing on the big washer on the plastic part.
I took 2 windings off the spring and repositioned it away from
the washer. I also put 2 peices of soft rubber about 1/16" on
the bottom front of the top casting to stop the bang when you
press the pedal down too fast. I hated that loud banging noise.
Now it works like new again, and it's quieter than is was new.

I want to thank each one of you for using my pedal. It is a labor of love for me. I always wanted to be a great player but that never seemed to happen. I guess my real talent is electronics. A product is not worth much unless the manufacturer is willing to help the buyer after the sale. |

I'll put in a word for Keith also. When I first got my Hilton pedal he talked me through a couple of user errors during a sound check on the phone. He also came up with a quick fix for a voltage problem I was having overseas. _________________ Bob |

I was just reading over on a thread about a wah pedal, Jerry Garcia putting a pack of cigarettes under it to make a stop... I am a dedicated two-footer on steel, and once I figure out where I want the pedal to rest - somewhere about 75% of volume, I start fiddling with the thickness of a piece of foam. I get it to the right loudness, but there's a little afterburner left in toe-down. You could probably invent some sort of elaborate mechanical "half-stop" to do it, but this works perfectly well - there's something to be said for simplicity. |

I too purchased a used pedal, sent it to Keith twice because of a short, on the 2nd time he sent me a new pedal free. That is the ultimate in customer service.
Thanks Keith you da.....
