Frying Pan Construction.

Couldn't help but post these photos of my new long scale eight string being made by Ross Coole in Fremantle, Western Australia. Initial stages at the moment, with the wooden pattern only finished so far.
Being on the opposite side of the country, I can't witness any of this personally, but a friend of mine is documenting this for me. He'll take video of the aluminium being poured next week, which I'll post for any interested people...

Please keep us informed. I am building a wooden one (poor mans version) just because I love the look of a frypan.I think the wooden blank may make a steel in it's own right!

Looks like a fun project! I've built a few wood frypans. Good thing is, they are usually small and light compared to some designs.

The pouring of aluminum should be interesting. There is a shrink factor when the casting cools. Not likely a big deal, since most Rick frypans are not true 22.5 inch scale, for example, being a bit shorter. I've never tried pouring aluminum ( and I don't even pour beer anymore)

Wow factor high considering you had not been aware of Rick's cast postings, pretty incredible to have a 2nd founder independant of the other.
Benjamin, what kind of electronics are planned?
It'd be interesting to A/B a Rick vs Rick's vs your's in all aspects.

Hey Ron, just to clarify, I'm not actually making this guitar, it's being made for me by Ross Coole. I'm lucky enough to have a friend on hand to document it.

Ross will be making the horseshoe pick-up. When I tried one of his other fry pans, it sounded superb!
