The Commander with Bobby Black on steel. Essential listening circa early 70s.

Well, it was played on some FM radio stations I listened to back then, but I tend to doubt it made it by the censors on most 'mainstream' commercial stations. But I think WBCN Boston played it, and most certainly WYSO Yellow Springs, Ohio played it. I imagine what was left of 'FM underground' or some college stations played it.

This is basically a cover of the "Everybody's Truckin" by The Modern Mountaineers, 1937 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ2o2wPrI-s

I personally think this is some of CCLPA's best work. I understand if some are offended by the lyrics, but they don't bother me - it's good music, that's enough for me.

Dave, I like "essential listening" :) True for sure with most of the CC and Bobby Black material.

Kind Regards, Walter

I have heard the Modern Mountaineers early version on "theRadIO.com" Country songs of the 40's web sight. They also used the substitute words for Truckin. This song probably started back in the 20's with a Blues or Jazz group ! Just wondering.
