Can anyone tell me who played steel in this version of Little Ole Dime by Jim Reeves?

I understand that there is a later version of this song also sung by Jim Reeves. I would like to know who played steel in that version as well.

Signature work by Pete Drake on C6th with pedals 6 and 7 as the current setups are only with a G on the first string.

The original release of Little Ole Dime was recorded in the early 60's and Pete Drake played steel guitar on that session.

In 1978 (14 years after Jim passed on) an album was released entitled "Jim Reeves Nashville '78." RCA Victor APL1-2720. This was an "Overdub Production" produced by Bud Logan. There are no specifics about the session musicians other than a mention of The Lea Jane Singers.

I believe that Buddy Emmons played steel guitar on this album, and of course the "other" version of "Little Ole Dime."

Glad to help out on some PSG history. One of my favorite albums of Jim Reeves songs is "Good 'N' Country" (produced by Anita Kerr (and Chet Atkins) back in 1963, and released on the RCA Camden Label. It has some real outstanding work by Pete Drake on songs such as "Little Ole Dime", "There's A Heartache Following Me," "The Talking Walls," and "I've Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand."
