Mark Van Allen's New Band
Folks,
I had the GREAT pleasure of meeting Mark and listening to his new band. WOW!!! The music is absolutely incredible. It is my understanding that the songs are Mr. Sipes originals. What tremendous song writing. Mark said for me to get ready for some whacky music. Well, it's far from whacky! It's some of the most grooving music I've heard in a while.
Great job by you and all of the band. My only disappointment was that their new CD was not available at the show. When will they be ready for sale Mark? I want one ASAP.
If you get the chance to catch these guys, DO IT! Don't go expecting country classics; go hear how the PSG can be incorporated into other music.
Great Job and glad I caught you guys!

Thanks for the props, guys. I'm really thrilled with this new band- the other players are so good the bar is set really high. I've always tried to hang with players who push me, and this band has that going on in huge heaps.
We're off the road until August 3, and should be working on tracks, hope for a CD release sometime in the fall.

While I think of it, Tim, all of our original tunes at this point are from the singer, Bobby Lee Rodgers. Very Prolific guy, and one of the youngest instructors at Berklee Music College.

We have west coast dates coming up later in the fall.
Jimmy Herring is the lead guitarist, and is he ever amazing. Also one of the nicest people I've ever had a chance to work with.
Oahu would be just fine with me- I had a layover there on a South Pacific tour in '95, but I've never actually played in Hawaii. Gotta fix that!

Hey Mark,
Where are you playing on August 5th ? The 8x10 page says Herring/Rogers/Sipe will be in Baltimore but, the schedule at markvanallen.com says you will be in Georgia that night... ?
That's already a great band line-up. I hope you will be with them on pedal steel in Baltimore.
