Let me start by saying I just realized that Jim Park posted an amazing video of Terry Crisp with Ricky Skaggs. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=207086.
Terry Crisp is probably the best unheralded player around. As you can hear from Jim's video, he's got chops for days and amazing technique. From the above MP3 we hear how beautifully he plays, the way we all love to hear it. And, below I've posted a fusion cut from his album. BTW, This album never had a cover and I doubt if more than a few hundred were pressed. Obviously they either ran out of money, or someone got pissed off or both. None the less, it's an interesting ambitious album.

| I agree Terry Crisp is one of the most under appreciated players out there. When I first heard him on Ricky Skaggs version of San Antonio Rose I was convinced it was Buddy Emmons. From me there is no higher compliment. |

Wonderful playing indeed. Terry and I have never met but he married my ex-boss, Christy Quick, after she moved to Nashville. I've always respected his abilities.
What really cracks me up is the label. I'VE NEVER SEEN MORE TYPOS IN ONE PLACE IN MY LIFE.
(At Ease? Jimmy Hendrix wrote Over the Rainbow [that's wrong on so many levels if it's the song from Wizard of Oz]? Kristopherson? -- there are probably more)

That was certainly true in 1980 or 81 when he did his album at the ripe old age of 22 or 23. So Terry Crisp has be a great player for a very long time. At the time this was done. Buddy Emmons may have had better chops for this type of tune. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it. However, Buddy did this kind of playing long before anyone else. And was the inspiration for many of Terry's fast solo's. So he'll always be da man.
I about wore the album out when it was new. Or it wore me out.  Anyway, I hadn't heard this since I moved off and left my turn-table some 25 years ago. I had forgotten just how good it is.
