New Jake Hooker CD.

Post by Jim Loessberg »

Hello everybody,

Jake's new CD, One Man World is now available. Recorded at Hilltop Studios in Nashville, it features my good friends Doug Jernigan on steel, Pete Wade on electric guitar and tic-tac, Pig Robbins on piano, Jimmy Capps on flattop, Bobby Flores on fiddle and Jake on upright bass.

As with all of Jake's CDs this one is hard core traditional Country and Western Swing and if you didn't know better you might think it was recorded in 1967.

The song list and many sound samples are available at www.startexrecords.com

So if you're a Jake Hooker fan I invite you to drop by the website and have a listen.

Best wishes,

Jim

Jim didn't mention that he get's credit for drums on this. Looks like a real all star line up. And as Jim says, Jake is very hard core traditional Country and Western Swing. Why can't there be more like him???

Ordered today! Always enjoy Jake and the Outsiders, and this studio effort will fill in between the live shows.

Hi guys,

Doug played a 1972 Emmons fatback through a Fender Twin. We were going after that "old school" sound so I asked Doug to bring the Emmons.

I can't say enough about how well Doug played on Jake's record. The big Ts were all there: tone, technique, taste, timing and tuning.

Listen to the samples on the website and I am sure you will agree!

Best,

Jim

Jim, I'll be calling to get one.
If you haven't had the pleasure of listening to Jake, you've truly missed what I consider to be the greatest pure country singer of this day.
I love Daryl, Johnny, Tony, Curtis and the rest of my heros, but up and coming to carry the torch is Jake Hooker. This young man is a mixture of Faron, Ray Price and Johnny Bush wrapped in one package.

Received my copy yesterday; great mix of shuffles, swing, and ballads. Plus Jake wrote four of the songs.
Top-notch musicians and vocals....highly recommended CD!
More songs to request the next time we are at one of his shows (which will be 24 Jun)! I'm thinkin' Rick Price will have no problem doing his part.
