Back in the 1970's I rarely played the C6th neck on my old Fender Pedal Steel, but when I heard the basic track for "Black Gold Fever" it just begged for "Western Swing style" Non-Pedal Steel. This tuning is much closer to the original "Hawaiian" roots of the steel guitar, and most often associated with Hank Williams, Gene Autry and Ernest Tubb's "Cowboy" music.
