New Clip of the Week 04/24/11

Post by Walter Stettner »

Good Morning,

This week's clip comes from around 1970. It's an instrumental version of a Liz Anderson song, made popular by her daughter Lynn:

Enjoy the music!

Kind Regards, Walter

I have no idea who the steel player is, but I think it's Billy Byrd on the guitar.
Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube.

I also think it sounds very Rugg-sy-ish.

Yes, that is Hal Rugg. I must admit I don't know who the other msicians are, though. :)

Peter, this is an obscure albume from around 1969. I only have the MP3 tracks, never saw the album cover or the label. The album is called "Wichita Lineman".

Are the rest of the cuts as good? There are several copies on eBay:

And a couple on Amazon:

According to this website they were Dottie West's band, and Bill West played steel, but it sure sounds like Hal Rugg to me.

A good intrumental album, IMO. Hal Rugg all over the cuts. Classic country style.
