Hello Again my fellow steelers!

Upon working on my second DVD, and CD, while warming up, this older song came to mind. It is a Sacred Steel congregational style of music that is shared in some of our worship/praise type of service. Take a listen, I think you might like it. It is a foot stomping, handclapping type of melody!
Anyway, I had fun making it!

I also had a listen to your take on 'Have I told you lately That I Love You'...it's right in the groove.
What steel are you using on these clips, is the volume knob on top (I assume that's what it is) part of the original set-up?

I`m glad to hear you enjoyed it. I had quite a struggle with "Have I Told You...". My style is somewhat limiting, but I keep trying anyway!

Believe it or not, I play on a modified Carter Starter,(I modified it in several ways). I had to do it because of my physical challenges. (I am a double amputee) When I inquired, and proposed my ideas to the Carter people, I received absolutely no help whatsoever. So I modified (partly, I`m not through yet

) the guitar for my needs. The volume control is on top at my right hand. I plan to re-configure the knee levers next! I miss stretching those strings!

Yea, that is me "dry all over" Ha-ha! I could`nt let that one slip by!
Seriously though, I`m still learning all the technical stuff to recording. As I tell all who inquire who the back up group, or band is? I simply tell them that there are six "old" guys named "Ron" that I hired with their arthritis, neuritis, senility, nervitis, and every thing else. Every now and then I join up with them and sweep out the joint! But, my wife is tolerant!

Ronnie, I'm home recovering from back surgery. I'm not suposed to be moving around a lot. But when you started playing i couldn't help it. It started in my big toe and worked it's way up. the next thing I know I'm stomping my feet and clapping my hands.

It brought a little sunshine into an otherwise boring day at home.

I sure enjoy your playing. I had the same problems with steel makers as you have had. I have a prosthetic left leg and no one would even recommend any way to move the pedals to the right side. It was almost like asking a car dealer to move the steering wheel and gas pedal to the right side so I could drive it off the lot.
I have changed over to the lap steel and that has worked out a lot better. Not quite the same sound but for my style of playing it works. I tried using the pedals with my left leg but it limited the way a song should sound so I took the alternative way. I have seen a lap steel with hand levers and just might look into that one.
Keep up the good sounds because it sure is inspiring to hear and watch you play. You put a lot of feeling in your playing.
I also play with a bunch of old timers, Not that I am saying you are old, but it sure is fun just hanging out and doing a little picking with them. Keeps the inspiration and cobwebs out of the brain.

Yes Larry. Assuming you can't use the knee levers of a regular pedal steel, palm levers may be your answer. The Duesenberg Multibender takes about ten minutes to install. You just have to make sure you have a lap steel or console steel with enough space beyond the bridge.

I'll check it out. I have a lap steel about the same shape as yours. It would sure make it better sounding. The slants just haven't come around yet for me to get the sound I like. I will check the measurments and see if it would work on mine.

Yes, it seems that guys, (and gals!) like us always have to make adjustments to get along! But!!! Always remember the declaration:"where there is a will there is a way"! That is right in there with: "Never give up, never surrender!!) These are just some of the statements of determination, that I, you, and others, have learned to live by.
As my dear friend Al Brookes has shone, the Dusenberg Multibender might be the right giz-mo, for both of us. I`ve been thinking about one for quite some time. For me though, I hav`nt quite figured out what to do with the lower four strings yet. But I`m sure the answer will be forthcoming.
By the way, I "am" old!!!

and glad to be here! And I also play sometimes with another bunch of old timers!
