I have a wound 6th string (G#) where an unwound was when i got my carter single 10. I cant seem to get the pedal or lever lower to tune in with this thicker string with the hex keys, what can i do about this? I am as far in as the nylon rods on the end want to go.

I had the exact same problem. I went back to the original gauge strings my guitar came with from the factory. No more problem !!

A wound sixth string takes considerably more travel to lower than a plain string. Some guitars can't do it. If you really like the wound sixth, as I do, you might consider raising the seventh string instead.

Have you checked that the pull-rod for lower on 6th string is attached to the bellcrank as far from the axle as it can go?
Assure maximal rod travel for lower, and try again.

Carters use a slave bellcrank on the plain sixth, to gear the movement down a bit.

If you use a wound sixth, bypass the slave crank, and go direct from the knee lever bellcrank to the changer finger.
