Steve Moore is the CEO of the CMA (Country Music Assn.) Kris Kennedy says who will and who won't be able to be an exhibitor in the Convention Center in Nashville during the Fan Fair (Music Festival).
Steve Moore has nothing to do with Classic Country music. His career started with ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He plays the trumpet and today is a pop country promoter. Kris Kennedy has no love for music that made Nashville in the first place.
I had Don Helms and John Hughey in my booth signing autographs several years ago. They would not be allowed today. Today's rules state that in order to have exhibitor space this year you must have had a top hit within the past year or are a member of the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Let's see...Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Marty Stuart and even Garth Brooks. Geees...Garth too country to be included this year? That even leaves Wynonna out. The reunion booth that featured many of the old Classic Country stars is no longer allowed to have a booth. I'm just wondering....I don't know of any hit record that Wrangler has ever had. They occupy about 10 spaces every year. Kris Kennedy told me that she want's corporate sponsors. How many coporate sponsors ever done anything for country music let alone ever had a hit record?
Read the new rules that govern what you have to be or have done to be a part of the Rock/Country Festival this year. It is absolutely sickening. They haven't turned me down yet but I do expect them to. As many of you might know, I have had Lynn Anderson, Charlie Louvin, Jeannie Kendall, Stella Parton, Don and John and a host of country music artists in my booth over the ten years I was there.
It's not going to change folks. Not as long as the CMA is being run by a bunch of rock and roll promoters and artists. Sad, sad, sad. They should change the name of the CMA to IAATM. It's all about the money. Dave A. Burley
