A friend recently gave me 4 Jerry Byrd records, and this stands out of the bunch to me. Steel Guitar Record Club # 1 - Steel Guitar Romantic World. The notes say "Jerry advises that he has many fans in Japan and this record was done as a compliment to their music. The tunes were selected in Japan and all the background music was recorded there. The tapes were sent to Jerry in Nashville..." This is very hip stuff! I can't get it out of my head. |

Hi John,
Jerry Byrd's "Romantic World" is one of my favorite recordings. I bought it when Tom Bradshaw initiated his record-of-the-month club, and I recently transfered it to a CD. It's very different from Jerry's other recordings, but it still sounds wonderful. Love those harmonics!

I believe JB claimed, on the liner notes; that it was the hardest project that he had ever done at the time! The entire album was played using his 7-string C-Dia. Tuning: Lo-to-Hi E~F~G~A~B~C~E It's by far my favorite non-pedal tuning and since I use 8-strings, I place a (C) on #8 to complete a C6-Tuning. It helps when learning the tuning to think of it as a C6, with the f & b wedged in between!
C~E~[F]~G~A~[B]~C~E All you're really losing are C6-Strums, but; there is a 4-string G7/9 strum using 6,5,4,3 and adding the 1 = G13th. in place of a plain G7. With this tuning you have at least these open chords available. C, F, G7, G13, Em, Am, F Maj.7 and some other partials! You can also change the low C to C# for even more variety! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

It has to be some of the most emotional steel guitar music ever recorded. Parts of it give me goosebumps. One of my all-time favorite albums. _________________ -πππ- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Is there any chances to find this album? I'd like to feel those 'goosebumps' too:) _________________ GFI Ultra SD-10, BearCreek Weissenborn, Herrmann style 4 Weiss, Γ
