I was looking for a ShoBud Maverick a few threads ago...but I had another idea over my corn flakes this morning. Before I take it a even a mini-step further, I thought I'd run it past the assembled human data-base of knowledge! How about I locate a head-stock, changer assembly and rod/lever mechanism etc....and make my own PSG! I'm a cabinet maker with a mechanical leaning. Could it be done? Where would I go for parts? Is there life on Mars?
Opinions, thoughts and offers of parts all welcome!
Regards from Ireland,
Tony

Of course it can be done, but it won't save you a penny – especially not for a student model.

Good sources for miscellaneous hardware, woods and inlays include Stewart-MacDonald and Luthiers Mercantile, for cheap tuning machines you could try Axes'r'us in the UK or GFS. Forumites Bent Romnes or Martin Weenick will know everything else worth knowing!

What Per Berner said.

The Steel Guitar Builder forum has quite a few members though, so obviously some of us do build, or look into building, our own for some reason or another. You are welcome over to check up on your options.
