Who's playing at the Stock Yards in Ft. Worth?

Post by Rick Garrett »

I'm heading up to Ft. Worth this weekend and plan on being in town on Friday night. Anybody know who's playing around the Stock Yards this weekend. I might stick around Saturday night too. Don't know yet. Also is there a nice hotel around there close? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Rick - Can't go wrong at Pearl's Dance hall, on E. Exchange, always great music there, don't know who is playing, but go to http://www.pearlsdancehallandsaloon.com/Home.htm
just about anywhere else, is DJ's and tourist attractions.

Rick, there is a cool hotel right there in the stock yards district. I think it is called the Cattleman Hotel. The lobby is like stepping into a movie set for a western movie. There is a real good Mexican resturant at the end of the steel.

I've heard from a couple Texas friends that the Stockyards are fun place to visit, haven't been there myself.

But when you read the title of this topic, and say you didn't know any better-

" Who's playing at the Stock Yards in Ft. Worth?"

you might think to yourself: "this is taking the term "sh#tkicker music" a little too far! Image

Ya can't go wrong at Pearl's - it's all great players.

There's always some good Country music in Fort Worth.

I'll be playing at the Stagecoach Fri. nite, till 11:30 (or so) and then I'm headed down to Pearls, to see who's there.

Saturday is the SWING FEST at the Stagecoach Ballroom, (Belknap, and Sylvania)

Hope that helps. Chuck

The Stockyards have always been great; stayed at the Cattleman's Hotel and it was a hoot..Talk about honky tonkin...last time I was there it was the best there has ever been...whew...need a place like that in every town...if so we would need 1,877,200,328 steel players..Is the Star Cafe still there cooking those super Grilled Steaks?

Rick, be sure and check out Cowjazz at Pearls on Saturday night after the Swingfest at The Stagecoach. They are a fine western swing band who don't play gigs as often as they should. I'll be there myself if I don't have a gig on Saturday.

I don't know where the band he's in is working right now, but my friend outstanding steel picker Ted Solesky works that area quite a bit. At one time they were working Billy Bob's fairly regular.

Ted lives in Mineral Wells now, but he's originally from central Pennsylvania, like me.
