I play an old Dekley.
I find that the strings seem too close for me to play comfortably.
Have played Sho Buds etc and they seemed to have more spacing between the strings.(maybe)
So,if someone gets time to measure, what spacing do you have??
Mine is exactly 5/16 inches between strings, center of string to center.
Perhaps I can remake the parts where the strings go over the bridge at the tuning head and changer end if neccesary.
Thanks, Pete _________________ StageOne S-10 3 pedals, 4 knee levers, E9th tuning.

Hi Pete,
I worked on a Dekley for a friend who complained about the same thing, in his case I was able to take the washers that were stacked up at either end of the changer axle and distribute them between the fingers to widen the spacing a bit...there just happened to be the exact amount of washers that were needed. |

Thanks Ross, that was a great idea.
Will check and see what I have on mine.
Appreciate that info. Pete _________________ StageOne S-10 3 pedals, 4 knee levers, E9th tuning.

Ross,
I followed your info and was able to find enough spare washers on the end of the shaft.
I did take a little shortcut. I put a small cut in each washer and slipped them over the shaft without removing the rod etc.
The spacing is now 11/32 as most other steels.
So I gained a spread of 1/32" each string from what I had. (5/16 " string to string before operation).
Thanks for the timely advice! Pete _________________ StageOne S-10 3 pedals, 4 knee levers, E9th tuning.

geez Stu, thanks for the nice compliment...undeserved I assure you! I get base hit or a homer every once in while (you can see some of them here
(www.six-ninedesign.com), but believe me, there's a big stinky pile of strike outs as well! Thanks again, I'm flattered. |
