I am what you call a Newby. Have played music for centuries but not steel. I have played the steel now for six months and met many great folks in the process. I am blown away by the generosity and congeniality of everyone I have met so far. Long live the pedal steel.

Mike is a banjo and fiddle icon in the NW, everybody's favorite. He came to me 6 months ago with a Carter Starter and wanted some guidance. Well here we are 6 months later, he has upgraded to an old Bud, a Hilton and a N112, he is creating songs like mad in BIAB, he is progressing like a sky rocket on it way to the moon in a hurry, oh did I mention what a great great person he is?
We hang out together every other week and he brings observations he has made about his playing or the playing of others that is spot on. It is refreshing to see a 64 year old newbie progressing so quickly and with such joy with his new found toy.
Be on the lookout for Mike and I in Dallas we will the ones with smiles painted on our faces the whole weekend.
