Great interview, thanks for posting it. I've never met Buddy Emmons but I'm just thinking that apart from his amazing musical abilites, his sense of humor probably helps make him one of the most loved guys in the pedal steel community. Seems like that belly laugh is never far away. He must be a lot of fun to be around. I hear he's officially retired but I sure hope he sits down at his guitar now and then...I can't think of anyone who looks to have more fun playing than Buddy.

Al Beig is a chap (Generous) I met on the internet.

I started to notice there was a lot of Buddy videos on You tube and I thought it would be cool to have one place to store all of his videos in an easy, free place that everyone could enjoy them. I did a search on Facebook and was appalled to see that no one had created a web appreciation site for the greatest pedal steel player of out time. There is a site for Tom, Papa John, but nothing for Buddy. I decided right there to start something for my PSG hero. Now, I'm not a person from the states and have only once met Buddy, but his music has so influenced me, that I felt it was by duty to start something... One of my major hobbies is collecting videos of some of the musicians that I greatly admire. I am the co-writer of a book on Lenny Breau and have many Lenny videos, and of course if your into Lenny, you are also into Ted Greene.

Face book is an ideal method of storing videos, and although I hear so many negative things about Facebook, if used wisely, it can be a terrific vehicle to share pictures, videos, etc on important persons. It sort of makes me upset when I see negative posts regarding these videos. Believe me they are posted with the utmost respect. Regarding Al, Al is one of those persons that read my posting and was kind enough to share this valuable Buddy video. A very rudimentary investigation will give the web site that Al used to upload the video. I downloaded it and immediately uploaded it to Facebook for the pleasure of the 900 plus fans of Buddy the site has garnered.

I hope that every member gets an enjoyable evening of pleasure sitting and watching the master play with some of the greatest musicians in out lifetime, and to think that almost all recorded material of Buddy is on one site, for free....not a bad bargain in my point of view.

Frank, I believe the interviewer is Mike Ihde.The video was part of the 333 Book published by Mike. The book and part of the video can be found at his website.

Ronald Cid It never ceases to amaze me, that even the simplest playing is always so musical and tasteful...Buddy even makes the canned drums and cymbals sound like they have a groove.

Al Beig Ronald, this clip is taken from the invterview Mike Ihde did for his book The 333 Book. It's taken from the included DVD with lots of guitar players and a few steel artists like Bobbe Seymour, Bill Robinson and Doug Jernigan.

Yes, the interview is from my book, "The 333 Book" which you can find at www.mikeihde.com

It's a guitar book but I put video performance/interviews with the likes of Buddy, Jernigan, Auldridge, Billy Robinson, Bobbe Seymour as well as guitar greats like Ray Flacke, Phil Keaggy and many more.

You can watch short clips on the site. The actual interviews run from 25 to 45 minutes each and come on the dvd that goes with the book.

I call these my "Inspirational" videos because they have nothing to do with the book! They're there to open up students eyes and ears to other players, instruments and styles they may not be aware of.

Really enjoyed the interview. Thanks so much for posting. I guess I am one of the lucky ones who met Buddy,heard him play many times and in fact he accepted an invitation to come to my home and meet all his avid admirers while in town with Ray Price. I was the Canadian Representative of his fan club years ago. BTW Ronald Cid I am a great fan of Lenny's as well.

Mike wrote me today regarding the video. He asked me to remove the video from the Facebook site and I did immediately.

He also wanted photos removed but did not specify which photo so I await his message and will remove the photos as soon as I know exactly which photos are his.

I urge all persons interested in pedal steel guitar to visit and purchase his work. I noticed that there are other PSG players in the videos so it must be a very enjoyable piece of work.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the videos and please understand that this was not down with malice or an intent to cheat Mike. This was simply placed on the site for all Buddy Emmons lovers to see the master play in a relaxed setting.

Ronald,

Thank you for taking the video off the site. I know there was no malice intended and you were just trying to put together the best site you could to honor Buddy. Believe me, there's no one who deserves it more.

This is my third book but the first one with videos and I was always worried that these interviews would end up on you tube which wouldn't be fair to me. I want people to buy my book to see them. I'm sure you understand.

The photo of Buddy that I took is the nice color one at the top of your site. Please keep it there, just write "photo by Mike Ihde" under it.

I'm so thankful to Buddy, who I've known since we played together on a few concerts in '75 and '76 in MA, and all the other artists who gave of their time and talent to help make my book a better publication, that I'd hate to see their generosity put out there for all to see when it was meant to be just part of my 333 book.

Thanks again for being understanding.
