Buddy Charlton Rest In Peace
I received a call from Kaylee that Buddy passed away last night. She said that he was not in pain and went peacefully. That's all I know at this time. Our prayers are with the Charlton family and so many who loved Buddy.

sorrow
With great sorrow, I didn't want to hear the news about my friend Buddy. I got to play with him a lot between shows when Ernest and Loretta was touring together. Also played with him on the Opry once. We used to fish a lot years ago. He was and is still one of my all time favorite steel players. Will miss him. Dave Thornhill

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

I was deeply saddened this morning to receive a call with this news. I had a letter to Buddy sitting here on my desk, ready to mail this morning, telling him how much I cared for him and for our friendship over the past 30+ years. I'll now have to tell him in prayers.
It would be impossible to overstate his influence on a generation of steel players -- some through his recordings, but primarily those who knew him through his teaching. The sheer number of successful steel players he mentored is testament to his amazing talent, patience, and compassion. Through them, his legacy will carry on.
To Kay Lee, I offer my love, condolences, and deepest sympathy for such a huge loss.

I will miss you Buddy!
I had the distinct honor of studying under Buddy for five years. He was the reason I wanted to play steel guitar. I'm so fortunante to entertain professionally and Buddy always pressed me to move to Nashville and persue my carreer in the music business. To this day I play with a slide he gave to me 20 years ago. He inspired me and so many others to carry on the tradition of REAL country music. KayLee was the love of his life and together they helped so many of us persue our dreams. I know that Buddy is visiting with Ernest Tubb today and sharing stories with our Heavenly Father. Your legacy will live on forever Buddy. Thanks for so many incredible memories.
