| Are there any of George Edwards students here on the forum? George taught by cassette tape through the mail. If so, do any of you still have any of the tapes? |

| I was a student of George in the early seventies.We did one on one sessions....but no tapes...Wish I had some. Good friend as well as a good teacher. If it was'nt for George I would still be looking at the case wondering how to put the guitar together. And that's no joke. |

| I have been an "indirect" student of Georges. I worked with Les Severs following George and Gene Schibel. George was "The Man" on steel in the Philly area for years. He went to Nashville and and left some big shoes to be filled in the NJ, Pa. area. We still talk on the phone every now & then. He's a great guy and awesome player. |

When you talk to him tell him I said Hi. We had a great visit at ShowPro's open house in September. George wrote an instrumental for an album he did with Hank Jr. and the Cheatin Hearts called One A.M. I'm curious if he put that in a lesson tape. I've got most of it, but would like to see how he played it. |

| I just talked with George Saturday on the phone. He seems to be doing well. He was a big part of getting me started on steel. Known him for over 40 years. Will be in Nashville in March and plan on having a great time with him and Sally. BTW he did show me how he played 1 am. The man had some of the best tone ever on the steel. On C6th he was an animal. Just awesome. Can't wait to see him again. I was very fortunate to have him play on the Pickin On Shot project. A great man. Terry |

 I took these pics backstage at a package show with Kitty Wells. Faron gave George that hat. When you're on the road you drink whatever's available. LOL
George is a great guy, one of the first steel guitar players I met down on Broadway when I came to Nashville. In his infinite wisdom, he told me to forget the whole steel guitar thing, but I ignored his sage advice. Oh, well...

Great pictures, Cal! I'm gonna try to save them on my computer if I can. George is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He's my old neighbor and it's still my turn to call him....since I slept til 1:15 today I didn't get a chance to. (I hope my wife doesn't read this. I told her I got up at 10:00!)
Bud Light has been our tour sponsor for the last 2 or 3 years so I had to spread a little love for them.......like they need it!

| I believe it was George Edwards who told me about Scotty’s Music. Can anyone confirm George would have been playing for Hank Jr in the summer of 1971? It was an outdoor sport show in Carlyle IL. Only a handful of people showed up for the show. Afterwards the band started packing up and I went up and spoke with the steel player. He was real friendly, handed me his bar and said I could mess around with his instrument if I wanted. I guess I knew enough about pedal steel at the time to take him up on his offer. Actually I was never even near a steel before that day. I live near St Louis, Mo and he told me if I ever need help, lessons or whatever get in touch with Scotty. Took me another year to get to Scotty’s and I came home with a brand new Sho-Bud Maverick. If anyone talks with George tell him thanks for me. |

| Cal...would have George been playing a black Emmons at that time period? I'm really testing my memory here!! At least that is what I believe he was playing, but that was quite a while back. Wish I knew more so I could have asked more intelligent questions. I do recall how surprised I was at the weight of the bar, not every having held one before. Lucky I didn't drop it on his guitar. |

| I think he may have had to replace the Black PP when Hank Jr Decided to Play Thru a Bad Thunderstorm on an outdoor gig around 1973. The Whole band lost their instruments so Hank Jr could be kool. Don't think Jr offered up any bucks for them to replace the lost instruments. |
