| I'm relatively new to the forum. I have an 8 string lap steel and a modded NV112. Looking for a second amp for purchase what would be a recommended amp? I have been looking between a session 400 and a Nash 1000. Feel free fellas |

Moved to Electronics from Steel Without Pedals.
What sort of sound are you looking to get? I don't think you'll hear as much of a difference between the various Peavey amps you're considering and another amp by a different manufacturer. For example, most lap steel players seem to prefer the sound of the Fender tube amplifiers such as the Blues Junior, Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb.

I'd add the Fender Pro Jr. to that list-- my favorite small Fender amp for lap steel.
It all depends on why you want the second amp..... |

I really like my G-K MB200. I'm running it into a single 12" speaker (a PV Black Widow). It has loads of power, really nice tone controls and is small and light weight. It drives pedals quite nicely too. Sounds great with my new Earth Drive, too. I've been really quite taken back by just how *good* this little amp sounds.

My understanding is that the SPLIT/Revelation is more of a pedal steel setup rather than a non-pedal/lap steel sound. |

If you need more power than the Nashville 112 provides, then you're much louder than I have ever needed to be. A Fender Twin would be the next step up in my opinion.

| If I were in your position I'd get a fender tube combo amp. Maybe a silver-face deluxe reverb, something in the 20-50 watt range. You'd probably like the sound of it better than a solid state amp with the lap steel and if you ever need more power just mic it or add the nashville 112. |
