I found this old Peavey Ad from the 70's showing what I think to be a custom LTD built for the grand ole opry. It appears to have 4 Ltd Preamps in one chasis that are switchable for mulitple players. Has anyone ever played through this amp? Was there only one ever made? Is is still at the opry? Any info is appreciated.

It was called the "Opry Box." At the Opry house, the steel guitars were placed stage left and the Opry Box was placed on the right of the steels facing stage left. It was a stack of four individual LTD preamps so each steel player could keep his own settings - first come first serve. It fed a direct line to the house while the steel players monitored through a Peavey monitor cabinet tilted up facing the front of the steels. The monitor was on casters and could rolled in front of each steel. On a good night there could be as many as 6 steels lined up stage left - almost to the curtain. It was always good to bring along a 20 foot guitar cord. With lots of time to kill between spots, there were always discussions of which of the four preamps sounded better.

Sometime in the late '90's (not sure of the year) the Opry Box was replaced with a Webb steel guitar amp "Opry Box" with both the Webb box and a monitor cabinet placed behind the steels. The last time I saw the old Peavey Opry Box and monitor it was being used as a tune-up amp in dressing room #11 - Jean Shepard's dressing room. I can still hear the sound of Weldon Myrick's Emmons LeGrande through the Opry Box.
